Apparently fast but terrible download

Running tv wired straight from the router.  BT sport keeps stopping and giving me an internet speed problem.  However, running a speed test on my phone gives 300mb.  Downloads terribly slow.   Lots of dropped packets.   Latency very variable.   Already given up on the VM router and use a TP mesh for wireless.   Now seems like something is wrong with the actual download.   Wish I’d never left BT and awful customer service line.   Sorry but just not good enough.

Need a bit more clarification.

BT Sport - wired straight from the TV to the router? Is that via a VM TV box - which one?

What TP Mesh system is it and do you have the Hub in modem mode ?

It may just need setting up differently.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
