1Gb signal drop issues

Hi, I have had ongoing issues with 1Gb broadband. The WiFi signal buffers even when I am sat at the router, the ethernet signal loses connection for a few seconds and do foes the WiFi, kicking me out of games and streams. Virgin have supplied a WiFi booster (which is crap) and boosted the signal to my router. I get 1150mbps to the router but I think the router is faulty. The router feels hot to touch and I measured the temperature and it was 45 celcius today. The router is not near sunlight or any hot appliances. I try to get through to Virgin customer services but the lines are always busy. Please can anyone help? Thank you.

I am very sorry to hear of the issues you have been having with the service. 

With the equipment getting hot, we would need to check for signs of overheating so will need to look in to this further.
