10 Network Behind VM Router

Just done a couple of traceroutes and realised I have a 10.0.0.0 network behind the VM router:

traceroute to google.com
 1 192.168.0.1 (192.168.0.1) 3.370 ms 2.808 ms 2.861 ms
 2 10.188.240.1 (10.188.240.1) 12.050 ms 12.401 ms 20.717 ms

Does anyone know what this 10.0.0.0 network is for? And how does the VM have an external IP when there is a private address range subnet behind it and before it hits VM's core?

Thanks

Re: 10 Network Behind VM Router

the 10.* address is the modem side connection to the CMTS and is normal.
