Your O2 Account has not been activated

After renewing my contract and being switched to o2 for the mobile sim I received and e-mail from o2extras. Here's the exact quote...

 

"Hello,

Remember, as part of your plan you get to pick your favorite extra. You've got 28 days to choose. When you're ready head here."

Ever since then link just takes me to a page asking me to log in, I wasn't even given a password, I've attempted to use the password reset option, which sends me a link fine but then just opens to a page saying "Your O2 account has not been activated".

I was thinking maybe because I haven't received the sim yet. I waited 5 more days then today my sim arrived. I set it up, it's all activated and working fine. Same result when trying to log in to choose my extra. 

I called the O2 helpline, got through to a lady who made the claim the account won't be activated until the 2nd billing date, so a month away and well over the 28 days I have to choose my extra. Is the lady talking nonsense?

That's wrong, mine was up and running in days But as it's an O2 account you will have to go through them as Virgin have no access to O2

Thanks, I just tried facebook and got an auto message saying no one is there. I might as well just call back tomorrow and hope to get through to a UK based person, assuming O2 actually has any. It seems that just like VM, the foreign "helpline" staff are just there to lie and mislead, at least this time they didn't steal £5 from me just for calling, hopefully haven't spoken too soon there.

OK after googling people with the same problem I realised I made a silly mistake and hadn't clicked the original link I was sent from O2, clicked it, had to set up a security question, and that was it. Congrats to the lady who told me I have to wait 2 months for my account to activate. Customer service of the highest order. 🙂
