What is "TV Essentials"?

Enten

My present contract with VM has come to an end and I've been offered a new Broadband + TV package.  The TV service offered is "TV Essentials".  In my existing package I have Mix TV and I don't want a smaller package.  I cannot find what "TV Essentials" comprises: the VM website and online/chatbot etc info services are not helpful.  I'd be grateful for some info.

Thanks in advance

First, Mix-TV is a legacy package that is no longer sold - so any re-contract will be based on a currently available TV tier. This is either base-tier Mixit or top-tier Maxit. Details on the chart at the bottom of https://www.virginmedia.com/virgin-tv-edit/tips-and-tricks/virgin-tv-channel-guide

"Essentials" usually means the social-broadband tariff for those on particular benefits - https://www.virginmedia.com/broadband/low-income-families

It could also be a reference to one of the bolt-ons for the non-recording Stream TV service. https://www.virginmedia.com/tv/stream

Hey Enten,

Welcome back to the community and thanks for taking the time to post.

Do you have a stream box or one of our V6 or 360 box?

Kind Regards,

Neither - I've got an ancient TiVo set-top box.

Thanks for that reply.  I hope it's a Mixit or Maxit although it seems to me that "Essentials" is a broadband product.  I've been offered a fairly good deal so I'll keep my fingers crossed that the basic "Essentials" is only a broadband offering.

Thanks for coming back to us Enten, the essential TV package would have less channels than both of the Mixit and Maxit packages. Does the offer just say its essential broadband?

Kind Regards,

No, I've been offered broadbad + TV.  The broadband offered is "Broadband Installation + M350 Fibre Broadband".  The TV offered is "TV Essentials".  I assume from what you've written that "TV Essentials" is a barebones service.  Not what I'm interested in.

Thanks for coming back to me Enten,  Tv essentials is the bare bones package for TV, if you could please give the team a call on 150 from a Virgin Media landline or 0345 454 1111 option 1, option 4 then option 4 this will get you through to the contracts team who will be able to look into this further for you.

Kind Regards,

Thanks - I suppose I'll have to talk to the team but I admit it's something I try to avoid.

BTW isn't it 1,1,4,4 rather than 1,4,4 via landline?
