Referal reward

I referred a friend and my reward has been pending for months i have sent countless emails and tried to phone with no luck of ever speaking to anyone or getting a reply what is the point in the referral as all i find online is people having trouble with it can someone actually help me get mine approved or is it just a gimmick to get more people signed up with a false promise
