I am moving house to live with my son and am trying to cancel my broadband/phone. I have tried ringing and after being put through the necessary department, they never answer, the last time I waited 46 minutes and then they hung up on me. As a last resort, I wrote a letter (recorded delivery and I have proof they received it) giving them 30 days notice of my intention to leave, that date is coming up soon, 22nd July but so far no reply, no acknowledgment and they will want another £54 off me again soon. Apart from cancelling my direct debit, has anyone any tips on how to to leave Virgin?

Don't cancel your direct debit until you are 100% sure all dealings with VM are fully concluded as that will potentially cause you bigger problems, which are described on here regularly by people who have done similar.
Sounds like you have followed the correct procedures and have proof of your cancellation letter being delivered. The address for cancelling by post is here

Have a read through this recent topic

which should offer you some reassurance.
One of the VM forum team should respond on here shortly and hopefully be able to confirm things for you via private message.
