New account set up password issue

Like many other new users I’ve been unable to set up a new account due to an issue with the password acceptance part of the process.  I get the incredibly frustrating “You can't use that password. Please choose another.” message regardless of what I try.  I’ve tried various combinations, all of which met the criteria.  Please advise
