Moving to a New Build

We are in the process of selling our Current Home and purchasing a New Build property. We are currently tied into a Contract with Virgin, which only fixed about 4/5 months ago. Unfortunately we will be moving out of our current address before we are able to move into our new home. We are expecting to vacate October/November but the new property is not ready until January.

The new address isn’t currently served by Virgin but is expected to be. What options do we have? As we won’t technically have moved into the new property, I don’t think we’ll be able to benefit from the new policy of no cancellation fee for non-serviced addresses. Is it possible to keep paying the monthly fee and then notify VM at the point of moving into our new Home; if Virgin then services the area. At that point if it doesn’t, we’ll be able to cancel without penalty. If we keep paying at this address, will it prevent the buyers from people able to take out their own services at the address?

Hi Abby1998,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome, sorry to hear the property you are moving to in October is currently not able to have Virgin Media however you believe it will at some point.

When moving to a property that doesn't have our services no longer carries an early disconnection fee so long as you can provide proof you are moving there, you can find out more here.

If you do need any further help, please do not hesitate to reach back out.

Regards

Paul.
