Marketing preferences

Hi, I have both Virgin and Sky.  Sky regularly send me offers - but I never hear from you guys, even though I'm a customer. So, I'm probably the first person in the history of this board to ask, but can I opt in to receive marketing offers? I did call customer services today, but I'm not convinced that the agent understood what I wanted.

Re: Marketing preferences

I'd rethink that if I was you. You don't get emails or leaflets with offers, instead what you get is a constant barrage or calls from a call center in India who leave blank voicemails and sound very scammy when you do eventually speak to someone.

Re: Marketing preferences

Hi andyland

You're actually the second person  in my queue, who has asked me 'today' to be honest Smiley Very Happy

Just so you know the default setting for marketing calls is set yo YES for all customers.

You have to opt out if you don't want them.

If this has never been requested then you will be registered.

To confirm this our teams can check for you if you contact them Smiley Happy

You can contact them via 150 or 0345 454 1111 or via Webchat for any billing or package related queries where they can clear security with you.

Webchat can be contacted via the site online and you can speak to them if you prefer this option by choosing the Chat Online option:

E.G-Account and Billing > Manage Your Account Online

Alternatively if you pop a PM to me I can confirm for you.

I would need:

If you can pop back to me on a PM with:

  • Your name
  • Your full address
  • For you to confirm you are the account holder
  • Your contact number

I will then be able to check for you.

To PM* me, simply:

  • Click on my forum PM link Karen_A

Many thanks

* For other forum users reading this, please only PM me if I have asked you to first.

Re: Marketing preferences

Hi Andyland

All sorted.

As with the opt out process, opting back in can take up to 6 weeks to filter to all the marketing campaigns etc so you should be fully updated by the new year.

Many thanks Smiley Happy

Re: Marketing preferences

Why on earth can't we just choose a 'No' option when logging into our account? I am sick to death of your calls. When I finally responded to the umpteenth call from an unknown 0800 number I was greeted by a nice lady with an Asian accent who said she was from Virgin and asked me to confirm my name and address! All security warnings nowadays tell us not to divulge private information to unknown callers (and this lady could have been from anywhere). I had to take time out and look up the number to find out if it was genuine - and now am having to spend more time trying to find out how to stop the calls which seem to have doubled since I rejected the first one. To expect customers to have to spend valuable time messing about is totally unacceptable.

In order to change your marketing preferences we'll need to pass Data Protection with you.
