Ring them up, ask for refund or for it to be used for the following bill.

Thanks for coming back to us here 🙂 

The option is there as not everyone pays by Direct Debit however it does state on that page that if you have an active Direct Debit then the amount you pay won't be deducted. 

Any over payment now will remain on your account and future bills will be taken from this credit. 

If you would prefer to make manual payments each month then cancel the Direct Debit to avoid this happening again.

As an update (as no help was forthcoming from Virgin on here)  I paid the balance of the first bill today online and cancelled the direct debit to avoid having to pay twice, in this day and age, one would think that a variable direct debit would account for any credit on the account when collecting the payment ?!?

Well, I paid the first bill online (early), cancelled the direct debit to avoid paying twice (antiquated systems) and received a letter demanding full payment this morning with a threat to restricting services?!? 

Some may say I caused this by paying early, if that's the case, guilty as charged for having a budget!  How ridiculous!

Hi Kath,  I cancelled the direct debit, paid the full amount and received a letter this morning demanding payment or have my services restricted ?!? I will happily reset the direct debit once I am assured that you wont try to collect the payment I've made again!

We will automatically send you a letter if there are any changes to the direct debit, e.g if it is cancelled.

 

Have you checked that the payments are showing on your online account, virg.in/myVM?

Hi, thanks for responding, yes, the payments were showing, all sorted now, I rang the call centre.
