Cancelling my account

Can anyone have some advice how to cancel my account without actually phoning 150?

Spent a long time and there is nobody picking up the phone when you chose option "thinking of leaving us"; however they pick up quickly SELL lines...

I just want to hand in my 30 days notice without being offered some silly deals.

Am paying now VIP bundle price for much inferior package (half the speed, very old boxes, weekend calls) and being with Virgin for 10 years would like really get some decent deal for once... or just leave...

But just cannot leave for the time being (so it seems)...

Re: Cancelling my account

Hiya jadexco and welcome back to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear you're looking to leave us and have found it difficult to hand in your notice.

You can find full details of our disconnection process here: http://virg.in/leavingVM.

Best,

Re: Cancelling my account

Hahaha, that's hilarious.

All you did was send a link telling him to call 150 Smiley Very Happy

Typical useless Virgin Media service.

Re: Cancelling my account

only other option would be to write to virginmedia via:
Virgin Media, PO Box 333, Matrix Court, Swansea, SA7 9ZJ, or call virginmedia back and say you don't want any offers to stay, or plan on leaving the country.

Re: Cancelling my account

Thank you for sharing your experience mate!

I'm having same trouble of contacting them, going to send VM a sign on delivery letter tomorrow.

This post collected almost 2.5k, presumably a number of people is having same problem. We really should be complaining to Offcom about this horrible practice. Offcom does not deal with complaints against service providers on case-by-case bases but uses them to asses the situation in general.

Anyway, here is where to start:

www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/how-to-report-a-complaint

This might be an example of the kind of message to send them:

Upon the end of the contract Virgin Media require a 30 day notice to be given by a customer who wishes to actually end a contract instead of automatically extend it.

Only option to give such notice it by phoning their customer service and then selecting option to speak with relevant department. However, there are very few operators dealing with cancellations.

According to other customers in similar circumstances who shared their experience on VM forum 20-40 minute waiting time is normal. In contrast sales department picks up the call almost instantly.

Furthermore it is not a free phone number, in other words those who wish end their contract have to pay to do so.

You must give 30 days notice of cancellation.
