Broadband speed upgrade (never made this change)

I have just received an email from Virgin Media stating my broadband has been upgraded from 200mbps to 500mbps for the same price, it states in the email “No need to sign a new contract”.

I never phoned up to upgrade my broadband as the last thing I want it to be tied in with Vm for another 18months min, the reason is because Cityfibre are due to do my street this year and I will leave once completed.

Why was this change made?

I have logged onto my account and it says new contract started on 13th April.

 There is no way I’m sticking with VM for another 18 months min.

I was out of contract as my last changes were July 2017.
