Bill timeline

Hi, 

Can anyone help me understanding the bill timeline? 
I’ve been paying it to my roommate but she’s moving now and asked me to pay for August as she mention it’s not paid in advance… however I have looked online and all payments should be in advanced… 

She has sent me a picture of the bill date (3rd Aug) and the direct debit payment date (23rd Aug). 
Should I pay for this? Or is she trying to get extra money from me?
