moving landline number

Hi

Moving house in ten days and would like to keep my Virgin landline number as many have it as a contact for business and pleasure.  Down side to this is, I'm going to a different area code so I know generally it's not the done thing but I've read about something called porting.  Not good with this kind of thing but am I on the right track or is it not possible at all?  Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paulie3

I don't think its possible as its outwith your std area.

You may be able to port it over to a voip service like Vonage but you'd need check with them.

Someone with better knowledge mm might chine in,

best of luck as I appreciate the importance of a phone number
