Wall socket not working

There is no dial tone from the 3 wall sockets in the house. I have plugged a telephone directly into the hub, heard a dial tone and made a phone call.

I'm assuming this needs a technician but there is no way of speaking to anyone. How do I fix this please?

Re: Wall socket not working

Hi @nishia

Thanks for posting on our community forum!

Has this only become an issue? Was this not an issue when your line was installed?

Re: Wall socket not working

Hi Travis

I have only ever used the internet so I'm not to sure how long it hasn't worked. I know it has not been used for 4 years.

Re: Wall socket not working

I see, the line should of been plugged in and installed so it was working upon install. Was this not the case?

Re: Wall socket not working

Hi @nishia,

Thanks for your reply.

Just to confirm - is the phone connected directly to the router? Also, have you used the phone in the past at all yourself?

Thanks,

Re: Wall socket not working

I have never needed to use a landline until recently. Plugging a telephone directly into the router gets a dial tone.

The wall sockets around the house do not produce any dial tone.

Re: Wall socket not working

Hi @nishia,

Thanks for your reply. I've located the account using your forums information just to check things over and I can see that your telephone services are using our DOCSIS technology - this means that the telephone services are only available through the direct connection to the hub.

This will explain why the dial tone does not work when connected to the other sockets.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Molly_G

Re: Wall socket not working

Do I have to run a telephone extension from the actual hub to the room I want to use the phone in?

Re: Wall socket not working

Either that or you could get cordless phones
