The sheer frequency of calls received here from 009etc and 0035etc numbers is becoming unbearable. 20 plus yesterday morning alone from 08:00 through. It's wearing out my answering machine!!
The full number changes each time, so TPS is no good.
BT offers call barring as part of their system, yet there seems to be no such facility on Virgin.
How can I stop all 009 calls please (as one example)?

Hi Bad_Raven,
Thanks for posting on our community forums. We completely understand the frustration caused by nuisance calls, especially when they're calling at all times of day.
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can put in place to stop these, as we have no control over incoming calls. We can only suggest adding caller display to your landline (If this is something you would like to consider) or you can purchase a call screening handset from most major retailers. For more information check the link here
Kind regards Jodi.

Thanks for prompt reply.
I have caller display, so thats not the issue, I need to stop the calls. I can assure that I will NEVER want a call from a Nigerian Prince or his Treasurer! 😊
If BT can do it at source, it seems strange that Virgin "has no control".

Thanks for coming back to us Bad_Raven.
We understand this is not ideal, however at this present time we have no way of stopping these 09 numbers from calling your landline.
We have a link here which may offer you further help and support, with this issue, hopefully this may deter them somewhat.
Kind regards Jodi.

I use this
https://www.truecall.co.uk/category-s/116.htm
which has been 100% effective for me at stopping the scam calls to my VM landline.
BT do a range of phones with the trueCall technology built in which many find effective but without the full customisation features of the standalone trueCall unit.
Search for 'trueCall' on this forum for past topics about how it all works etc. Post back if you have further questions.
What make/model of phone are you using at present? Some phones do have features to block incoming number prefixes such as 009.

Thanks "goslow"!
SO, I look under the master unit for my phones and find two stickers, there from new, with differing model numbers!! 🙄
I'll do a bit more searching, but I suspect its not truecall.
Jodi, they are not 09 numbers, they are 009, and 0035, and it should be far easier to give a customer the ability to supress all numbers starting "00" if desired.
Lets hope someone is working on it at Virgin.

I too get many unwanted calls , some say international others look like UK numbers but I suspect they may be from abroad. There is an article in todays news that Ofcom may be doing something about it , here's hoping https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59032795
