If you don't want to receive marketing calls from VM, have you used the opt-out feature from 'My Virgin Media'?
If you don't want to receive sales and marketing calls in general, have you signed up with the Telephone Preference Service?
Unfortunately it is impossible to distinguish calls from the real VM from scam callers.
One of the forum team will reply here within a day or two and may be able to advise if you were called by the real VM.

Hi @Andydex,
Welcome to our community forums and thank you for your first post.
Sorry to hear you may have experienced a scam call. We can understand your concern and we want to best help. Were you able to get a hold of the number that called? Also, what was discussed on the line? You may find the following link useful https://www.virginmedia.com/help/fraudulent-calls.

The number was 08001836411 I have signed up for the telephone preferences service and it's not that good get more calls now we end up unplugging the phone during the day that's how good it is

Thanks for confirming Andydex.
I've been able to find your account and cannot see any recent activity to show that this call was from us, however that is one of our numbers, but there's a possibility that our number has been spoofed. Some scammers are able to do this.
I'm sorry to hear that it has gotten this bad. The option of changing your landline number is always there, however we do appreciate this may not be a popular route, and there's also no guarantee that this will prevent further scam calls.
Kind regards

TPS only works for legitimate companies who will use it to avoid calling you, not scam callers.
If you are sure you are getting marketing calls from VM, and you have opted out of VM marketing, you can complain to TPS here

If you are sure you are getting marketing calls from VM, and you have opted out of VM marketing, you can complain to the ICO here
https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/nuisance-calls-and-messages/spam-texts-and-nuisance-calls/
There are multi-page topics on the forum to do with that number and unwanted calls from it. Unfortunately, the unwelcome and pushy manner of the VM sales callers is hard to tell apart from the unwelcome and pushy manner of the scam callers. You may be getting a mix of VM sales calls and scam callers or just scam callers.
I use this

on my landline and get zero scam/spam calls. Some BT phones have a 'lite' version of the trueCall technology built in.
