Hi

What happens if your hub is miles away from the telephone?

Hi @mbic

Thanks for posting on our community forum!

We would need you to move the handset closer to the hub and we'd suggest using cordless phones if you have a few dotted around the house.

All of our customers are being moved onto 21CV so the landline will run through the Hub so if the setup means you need to have the handset next to the hub then this would be the case.

I do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause

The enquiry is for a neighbour. His hub is in the lounge and is fixed phone is in the hall. Why should he have to buy a cordless system?
Virgin Media are driving this, not the customer, in my opinion all costs should be met by Virgin Media.
If he cannot get satisfaction he will probably look elsewhere!

Hi @mbic

Thanks for the reply

All providers are beginning the migration to VoIP - depending on the customers setup they would need to convert to cordless phones if they want them scattered across the property. An adapter will be provided to allow the landline to connect to the hub.

More can be seen on OFCOMs website regarding the changes here and also on our own website here

VM just keep going around and around in circles on this issue of phone extension sockets.

Totally different response on this topic

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Home-Phone/Phone-and-hub-are-in-different-rooms/td-p/4965534

which highlighted the most recent web page info offering a technician visit FOC to deal with the issue of phone extension sockets

And further confirmation here that the necessary changes should be FOC

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Home-Phone/VOIP-service-what-about-non-Internet-users-and-multi...

If you have to get a VM technician in, post switch over, you could be without a phone, depending how quick he could attend. Would it still be FOC if you booked a technician to come in before the switchover?

Yes @mbic, the visit will be free of charge before as its all part of the switch over.
