I cannot make a call and incoming phone rings but cannot talk to caller

Can you please give us some more info so we can best help you.

Is this a new handset? If so did your previous phone work? If you still have it can you please try to see if that still works?

Can an outgoing calls be made? 

When did the issue start?

We have this phone 5 years with no problems. It started Yesterday My wife tried to ring our Daughter but only got a Busy tone same to other phones. Daughter tried to ring us House phone rang  but we could not talk to caller. We are both in our Mid 80s and phone is essential. I tried Ringing 1908 but was left holding for 3/4 of an Hour Listening to rubbish Ads. There are 2 phones in house and Neither works

Can I check if you have a dial tone when picking up the phone?
