Ongoing issue with phone no dial tone

I have an ongoing issue with my home phone.

There is no dial tone and the phone rings but cannot be answered.

This has been intermittent since April with numerous calls to Virgin and numerous engineers booked only to have Virgin Cancel my appointment as it was found to be a network error.

As soon as someone calls in to my landline the issue re-occurs.

Of the 6 Engineer visits I have had booked 4 have been cancelled by Virgin and 2 have been cancelled without my knowledge the final one was supposed to be this evening has not shown up at all. On the phone I am being told again the appointment was cancelled but I had no text. 

Currently I am on the Virgin telephonic merry go round and still no home resolution.

Helplines are not really helping either...

Welcome to the community,

Apologies for the issues faced, can I ask did the prior engineer appointment get cancelled due to a general area fault?
Also is the landline set up through the router?

What's been advised in terms of what needs to be done with the tech arrivals?

The landline is straight through a wall socket.

The main text I received was:

"Hi, it's Virgin Media. We've put you service visit on hold while we investigate a Network problem We'll update you when it's fixed

Ahh okay. 

On our service status page via this link, does it advise of an area fault at all?

No worries, thanks for the response, 

From checking our service I can't seem to locate any details.

Just to clarify when was the last time that message was advised?
