No ringtone for incoming calls

I have just switched from BT to Virgin, installation was 2nd September, everything is working fine apart from the phone, we receive incoming calls, however we have no way of knowing when a call is being received as the phone no longer rings, we have tried a number of phones of different models and they are all the same.. HELP.

Also the dial tone seems to have a weird blip in it since today.  Not sure what that is.

Is anyone able to assist with this problem at all.

Thanks in advance.

Re: No ringtone for incoming calls

Hello,

Firstly the Blip in your dial tone means you have a Voice message on Virgin voice mail which is on 1571.

Secondly it sounds like there is a problem with the master socket if you have any extensions plugged in, unplug them try ring it with just a 1 phone plugged in. If it rings you have a wiring fault on the extensions. If it doesnt ring give Virgin a call and book an Engineer.

Hope this helps

Re: No ringtone for incoming calls

Old handsets require a ring capacitor for the ringing sound but this is missing from the RJ11 to BT adapter provided by VM. So, either buy this adapter with a ring capacitor (costs £4 on eBay) or use a modern handset.
