Lost my phone number

I have just changed from Sky to Virgin. When I ordered the package on the 16/2 I asked them to transfer my landline number from Sky to Virgin which they allegedly did. 


Just to make sure I phoned them the day after I had installed the new equipment to confirm that the number would be transferred got told it would done. Then 11/3  I Called them to ask about my number but was told they were unable to transfer it because it was disconnected from Sky and that only active numbers could be moved. Didn’t my request when ordering the package get followed up?? We’ve had that number for over 25 years! I was told just to carry on using the temporary number supplied-how am I supposed to let credit card companies,bank,doctors,hospital and everyone else know the number has changed? Surely my old number is out there somewhere?

It doesn't ring so no one has the number yet. My dad really needs the number because he has cancer and receives calls from the hospital regarding  his treatment. Does anyone know how I can get my number back?

My apologies that were not able to get the best resolution for you. Please do keep us updated if you do contact BT and they activate the number, we will be able to support further then, should you wish your number to be ported to us. 

If you believe the issue to be resolved you can mark the thread as resolved by clicking the helpful answer given and this will show anyone else having issue that an answer was given and direct them to the post, alternatively you can just like or 'kudos' the post if it helped you.
