Landline not working

My landline rings, but any time I answer or try to make a call, all I get is a cracking with no ring tone

I'm really sorry to hear of the issues that you're having with your line. Is your landline connected via your hub or traditional wall socket?

Have you checked the connections to your hub or wall socket to make sure they are correctly plugged in?

It's a traditional wall socket. I've disconnected and reconnected, but no change

I have checked your services on my side and done a health check on your landline and it seems there is a fault which only an engineer can fix. 

I'll send you a PM now so we can schedule a slot if you're okay with an engineer coming to visit.
