Hi, This is my first post will try to make it quick. Had a terrible week calling VM about the loss of ID on home phone, spent several hourly + phone calls and got nowhere, tech department said line tested OK but there is a fault. Checked my phone (Panasonic with base) on my sons line who is with VM and works perfectly, also told VM don't do ID anymore, ID was working fine up to last weekend, the last phone call yesterday was told just unplug your phone and use your mobile instead, I'm absolutely disgusted with the responses from the call center. Also today have spoken to several neighbors who have the same problem no ID on their home phones. My wife and I are pensioners we are in sheltered accommodation and rely on the ID display because of all the scam calls. I'm 73 this year and have a lot of medical conditions and really don't need all the agro Ive had this week, some one please help as i am losing the will to live after this last week. Also if it may help early last Saturday morning around 5am there was a power outage the neighbors who have lost there ID we are all connected to the same street box. Thank you.

Hi riggerss,

Thanks for taking the time to post in the Community. It's really great having you on board with us

We're sorry to hear the Caller ID isn't working. Checking things here, it doesn't look as though the code has been on the account for quite some time. I'm wondering if you've been using the feature through the handset itself. It may be worth checking this is active on the handset.

For us to check things a little further for you too, we will need to confirm some details. I have sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you are using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you are on a mobile/tablet device then instead click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊

Thanks,

That's what offshoring customer service gets you.

First of all I would check for local faults on 0800 561 0061 (it's automatic so no annoying offshore agents).

"and rely on the ID display because of all the scam calls"

NEVER rely on caller ID to validate who a callers say they are. It’s very easy today for fraudsters to spoof caller ID. Many people has lost a lots of money when they assure the caller is their bank when the correct number is displayed for the bank, but it’s really a fraudster.
