How does the new phone line upgrade work if you have 2 landlines. One of them being in a very different part of the house, miles away from the router?

They would divert the cable that runs to the second line to the router

No, there are two phone ports on the router, obviously it's impossible to say exactly how it would be done but the phone lines go to the same external box as the router, it shouldn't be too difficult
