Elderly mother's landline not working

Roddy_Ham
Tuning in

My mother lives on her own and has dementia. Unfortunately her phone has not been working for several days now. When calling I get the message, "Oops. You might like to check that number and try again".

She has new handsets and wiring seems OK.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Steven, thanks for getting back so quickly.

No she has no dial tone.

Line supplied via wall socket.

I'm not aware of any recent changes to the service.

Hey @Roddy_Ham,

Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the time to post your issue on the forums.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues that your mother is having with her landline and I would be happy to help to get this resolved.

Is your mother able to dial out at all?

Is the telephone service provided via traditional wall socket or via her hub?

Has the service recently changed at all as we are doing a telephone changeover at the moment for lines to migrate from the wall socket to phoneline via the hub.

If the service has been provided by the hub, have you tried to reboot the hub?

Regards,

Thank you for that information.

Okay, it sounds as though she may need a technician to investigate this.

What I will do is private message you to get some details. I will need you to be able to pass data protection.

I'm still waiting for you to private message me as you said you would. This is really urgent now. Please!

It's been 24hrs since your message and nothing. This is incredibly disappointing. It seems that an 85 year old who relies on her phone for contact with family and friends and who hasn't had one for over a week is not a priority. Just send out a technician! Why is this so hard?
