If the mobile you ring uses wifi system or satellite.it seems you get charged . I rang someone I new on his mobile 20 mins he is with Lycra and it seems I get charged £3.31 how are you supposed to know if the person you call is on this system .I think there are other phone companies use this system .So you pay £8 a month as you think for uk mobile and you can get charged . Taken up with VM refunded this first charge said there may have been a crossed line . Talked to customer help say that there is a charge to wifi type systems but how do you tell

Re: Charges to mobiles

Satellite-based phones like Inmarsat use specific international country codes and it's not easy to accidentally call them.

Mobile phones that are using WiFi calling are still mobile phones and charged accordingly, so that's a red herring. A so-called personal number that's in the 070 number range is another possibility, these used to be a popular way of redirecting to other mobile numbers.

LycaMobile is an MVNO hosted by O2, but they would issue UK numbers. Virgin also have "Talk Mobile" and "Talk More" bolt-ons which cover calls from Virgin landlines to mobiles - https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/phone/extra-tariffs.html & https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/phone/compare.html
