Can't make or receive calls

I have had my virgin media package for nearly a year, only recently purchased a phone, installed the phone but I have no dial tone so I can't make or receive calls, I rang the help line it was automated and it cut off and was no help what's so ever, I run a service test it it just freezes at 100% gives me no information then 45 mins passes and the page crashes.

I have a engineer coming out Saturday between 12 and 4, the strange thing is it worked Monday but I come home from work and it's stopped working again now.
