Analogue phone switch off 2025

9fingers
Up to speed

Have Virgin announced whether they intend to switch off their analog home phone lines in 2025 in common with Openreach

Will they supply Analogue Telephone Adaptors (ATAs) or issue new routers to support VOIP or maybe include DECT base stations into their hubs?

Despite searching I can't find any info.

Thanks Bob

The current VM offering (21st century voice, 21CV) uses standard phones plugged into the TEL1 socket on the back of the hub. Presumably this will morph into a true VOIP service from VM at some point in the future.

VM supply an adapter (which does nothing more than convert the RJ11 socket on the hub to a standard BT socket). You connect an ordinary phone via the adapter to the hub. Probably simplest to set up using cordless phones with the base station plugged into the hub and cordless satellite phones used around the home as required.

Thanks for your speedy reply.

Looks like I need to sharpen up on my searching skills lol

There are references to letters being sent out in your links. I've had none yet but I guess is must be a progressive roll out country wide.

thanks again Bob

That's correct, it is a gradual rollout by VM. You will be given notification when you are due for switchover.
