update. setup guest network on hub3 my ps4 has connected, but atm slow speeds. I also disabled 5ghz wireless but the ps4 could not detect my network. now I need to test see how it runs. btw it connected at 2.4 ghz, will update laters.

new update, I have completed a full initial factory reset, tried to set up a normal wifi connection to the super hub,but it fails. conclusion super hub 3 settings are stopping the connection, will need to investigate further.

Seems a strange conclusion when you said earlier that using your phone as a hotspot and connecting the PS4 to that didn't work either.  How did the hub 3 settings stop you connecting via your phone? That sounds more like the PS4 is the issue not the Hub 3.

thx for reading, I,m going to set all port forwarding as per Sony chat. as for connection to my hot spot failing I don't know. I,m not a techy guy. also why should it connect to a guest network and not my normal network? will update after done the ports.

Sony were fobbing you off with the port forwarding, as @DreamOfCheese has said this is not a port forwarding issue.  Port forwarding helps to direct traffic that arrives from the Internet on certain ports to a specific device on your LAN.  As your PS4 is struggling to even connect to the LAN then port forwarding will make no difference.

The error you got when trying to connect to your phone indicates a DNS issue, which was probably the result of the messing about with the PS4 settings you mentioned doing in your first post.  Hopefully the reset has resolved that.

The guest network seems to operate differently from the main WiFi network, as demonstrated by the current issue with Samsung S7 phones which can be circumvented by connecting S7s to the guest network.  Best guess is that the guest network doesn't use the same "Intelligent WiFi" that the main WiFi uses since the recent firmware update.

You could try splitting the wireless bands, giving 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz separate names, and try to connect to each band to see if that makes any difference.

Wired is always the best option for games consoles and if the PS4 is not near enough to the hub to plug in an Ethernet cable direct then you might still be able to get a stable connection with powerline adapters.

Be wary of jumping to conclusions.  Sometimes it's best just to say what's happening and let people troubleshoot for you.

With regards to mentions of DNS - everyone should be aware that if there are connection issues, this can sometimes manifest as DNS errors as DNS resolution is one of the first things that has to happen in many cases.  Let's take wifi out of the mix for a moment what happens if you use a wired connection to the PS4?

raven. when the ps4 is wired all work well. full access to internet etc etc.thx

could you suggest any DNS work arounds. 8.8.8.8/ 8.8.4.4 and others I have tried in manual configuration dont work. cheers btw direct cable connection is not practical for where I put the ps4.

If you're trying 8.8.8.8 and that's not working either then it rather confirms the idea that the DNS error is a red herring

If your got slim or pro and selected 5ghz channels on ps4 and your to far away then signal had dropped out try setting PS4 WiFi to 2.4 GHz when hovering over your WiFi name hit options on controller to select bands
