Son frustrated by Twitch game sharing, broken by loss of mainly upload speed over last 4 weeks

Over the last 4 weeks we keep seeing our 200 download 20 up disappear for minutes . This is more apparent in the evening, when service being used. In balance the majority of a 24 hr period its no doubt fine, but it seems to be slow when you need it!

I struggle to comprehend how unresponsive support agents are to incident management and how little information is either shared with the customer or available to the agent to troubleshoot. I've joined the community in the hope that there is a wealth of good support ,processes and effective problem management, its just not easy to receive.

i have an engineer arriving tomorrow to check out the hub and local connections. Any advice on how to get the best from the visit?

Thanks in advance for any support

Ian

Just tell them what the issue is, i mean they know what to look for, the techs are generally better at diagnosing the issue than the off-shore phone guys, could be power levels could be SNR could be a physical fault, the remote guys generally don't know whats going on anyway lol

I would say the SH3 just cant handle the traffic, its got a limited computing power. Its been like that since day one.

Go modem mode, and get your own router.

Red (VM SH2 AC Beta tester)
Running on 350Mb VM service with SH3 in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-AC5300 router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk.

Re: Son frustrated by Twitch game sharing, broken by loss of mainly upload speed over last 4 weeks

Thanks . In honesty we had a seperate router that we were planning to deploy but left the Hub in situ while engineer visited.

Nothing wrong with our infrastructure and we were able to align degraded  performance alerted issues within the local virgin infrastructure to the cabinets in our area.

This doesn't solve the ongoing problem but makes it clear that proactive repairs are essential and would save time talking to agents in India on home infrastructure, when local issues could well be the cause.

As you say having installed seperate router we get our assigned 200mb download and 20+mb upload throughout the house most of the time now. Local service noise issues aside.
