Request timed out causing lag spikes & xbox

To any one that can help, normal speed when browsing is great but when gaming it is quite unstable and as said above causes some lag spikes both devices are connected via ethernet but even when connecting through wifi the issues still persist but more frequently. This is the log that i get.

Packets: Sent = 162, Received = 161, Lost = 1 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 17ms, Maximum = 29ms, Average = 18ms

I have spotted that community members have got this fixed by an engineer attending each lag spike is only a brief one but it is really disruptive probably happens 12-15 times an hour if gaming online.

The issue is still consistent it has been like this since we upgraded to virgin so for about 5 months now i have just been putting up with it, it is the superhub 3 we have.

Re: Request timed out causing lag spikes & xbox

Unfortunately the error persists when trying wifi as well. it only seems to happen when gaming that is why the results may not have shown as a quick ping test doesn't show it while a continuous one will. it is showing 1% packet loss data and these requests that time out are causing this packet loss then causing about 3-5 seconds of lag in game.

Re: Request timed out causing lag spikes & xbox

Hi Jackster96.

Thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry to see you have had trouble with your connection.

I have taken a look and things seem to be ok from this side. It may help to try the following so we can rule some things out:

Pop the hub into Modem Mode with the computer in Safe Mode with Networking at different times of the day.

Try on separate devices.

Check Ethernet cable. Make sure it is new / up to date. (Cat 5e or above).

Make sure device is capable of agreed speed.

Check wireless card slide.

Take care.

 Emma

Re: Request timed out causing lag spikes & xbox

Hi Emma,

Thanks for the response, so looking at the suggestions,

in regards to the systems i have tried both wifi and ethernet and the issues just get worse when using wifi. While i have taken these same systems to some friends house who have the hub3.0 and it has ran fine as a fair few of them use it without any issues.

It is fine when browsing etc it is just when gaming online or just something that requires information to be sent and received at a fast frequent pace.

Regards.

Jack
