Re: New Customer - Looking to leave asap due to higher latency...

On top of that, our Wifi coverage is 100% worse than when we were on BT and EE, our phone line is always searching to connect as it doesnt work straight away.

Its a complete shambles.

Mis sold and told utter rubbish by sales staff to get a sale.

Re: New Customer - Looking to leave asap due to higher latency...

As you haven't produced a trace route or any metrics it is very difficult to work out if theres anything can be done.

As I previously asked, what is jitter doing?

What does a traceroute from your system to the server say?

How does the connection perform other than ping to that particular server?

I'm hitting it in 92Ms but my routing is going to be different to yours...

Re: New Customer - Looking to leave asap due to higher latency...

https://wondernetwork.com/pings/London/New%20York

also not sure where you were but pings from London to New York are 75ms if you were getting 80ms you had a 5ms ping from had 5ms ping from were ever you are though the UK. its seems unlikely. you have a 25ms ping on vm from you to london and the normal 75ms from london to new york

Re: New Customer - Looking to leave asap due to higher latency...

I've done a trace on VM and EE (home broadband not mobile) and the results aren't hugely different, VM is 10ms higher at worst.

Tracing route to login.riseofagon.com [107.155.100.198]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms router.asus.com [192.168.1.1]
2 12 ms 12 ms 8 ms 10.250.64.1
3 13 ms 10 ms 10 ms pres-core-2a-xe-713-0.network.virginmedia.net [62.255.120.253]

8 95 ms 93 ms 94 ms et-10-3-0.cr4-nyc2.ip4.gtt.net [213.254.214.10]
9 95 ms 97 ms 99 ms as22773.xe-2-0-7.ar1.nyc3.us.nlayer.net [69.31.95.58]

11 98 ms 97 ms 95 ms 107-155-100-198-customer-incero.com [107.155.100.198]

Trace complete.

EE:

Tracing route to login.riseofagon.com [107.155.100.198]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

12 87 ms 87 ms 86 ms 107-155-100-198-customer-incero.com [107.155.100
.198]

Trace complete.

If you look at https://enterprise.verizon.com/terms/latency/ 90ms between London and New York is the normal average latency so neither ISP is far off.

I have said a few times now, that the New York server is the only one they have for this specific game that i have played for over 10 years.

I know their seems to be many VM fanboys on this forum, however, changing a lower ping for a higher one is not a good exchange.

I have yet to receive one message from a VM representative to advise me on how they can fix my ping or improve it?

Hence why i will change back to BT or EE at the earliest opportunity.

Speed, Latency, Price, Reliability and Customer service all play a factor in which company i choose to give my hard earned money to.

Unless the extra ping is caused by a fault there is nothing VM can do to help you, judging by the other traces in this thread it doesn't seem to be a fault and just appears to be the standard DOCSIS overhead, unless you're within your 14 day cooling off period you're going to struggle to get out of it and could easily be liable for the full contract term if you decide to leave early

I can assure you I am not a fanboy of VM, if you actually looked at my posts you would notice this, why call people fanboys when they are telling you the truth? Seems very childish IMHO.

Re: New Customer - Looking to leave asap due to higher latency...

I haven't overlooked anything, I posted based on your initial post that you are leaving due to a 20ms difference in latency. Then when told you wouldn't notice it you resorted to calling people fanboys (very 4channish). 20ms means nothing, it won't affect your gameplay, you cannot react quick enough for anything sub 250ms anyway.

Others have explained why cable service have that extra few milliseconds added to latency, but you just don't want to accept that, because you are thinking 20ms is such a travesty it is ruining your gaming experience, when it isn't affecting it at all.

Majide!
