Large uplink buffer

Hello everyone,

I am looking to solve a problem with random lag spikes when playing games. I was thinking about checking the packet loss but what came up from the net analyzer was that the uplink buffer is very large (630ms) and it may cause lag in games etc. It's very frustrating especially that the prices are going up! Does anyone know how to go about it?

P.S I used this analyzer : http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/

Cheers!

Luke

Re: Large uplink buffer

If your using router mode there is no QoS so you need your own router with QoS to manage your traffic.

You still need QoS to lower the uplink and manage your traffic from one device but it is possible on a non QoS buffer to limit the uplink buffer by having the correct buffer size for your upload speed but VM don't do this so the buffer is too big plus it will not be QoS.

Running a Hub 3?  If so, this is part of the problem:

No this is another problem all hubs have this problem the uplink buffer is made better by QoS rate limiting.

Re: Large uplink buffer

Thanks for the reply. Does this resemble the symptoms of this problem? See attached.

Re: Large uplink buffer

Hi, sorry, just noticed your answer. So this is something I can't control, can I? Can I contact VM about this to fix it somehow ?
