Intermittent Packet Loss and Latency Spikes while Gaming

Recently I have been getting some intermittent packet loss and latency spikes that make playing online multiplayer games impossible. The issue occurs over several different games, so the problem is common to me. It does not however affect any offline games, and thus I thought the problem was with my internet connection.

Everything was smooth until roughly a week ago, and then this fault started to happen.

Attached is a BqM from the past 24 hours, along with some router status data

Any help is greatly appreciated. A technician came to the property last friday to fix a fault, however the problem is still ongoing and has not changed.

Thanks for coming back to us @markjohndeluca.

I have looked into your account and the network in the local area and cannot find anything that would be causing the issues that you're having.

Our system is advising that one of your devices has been a heavy user of the WiFi signal over the last 7 days. Would you be able to connect any devices such as laptops or desktop computers that can be connected by ethernet cable instead of using the WiFi connection.

If your are able to try this for a few days and see if there is any improvement in your connection and if not we can look into this again for you.

Regards,

Steven_L

Hi Steven.

I tested the connection on the device that is the heavy user with an ethernet cable and the problem still persisted.

The large amount of data is due to reinstalling windows and many applications after reinstalling my operating system on my PC to eliminate any software/driver issues. I can try it again, but I have used a variety of connections (ethernet directly into hub, powerline, several different wifi adapters) and the problem still exists across all options. In terms of a busy or over utilised network, I have also tested across multiple different time periods, including during the morning in which the desktop I tested from was the only connected device to my network (via ethernet direct)

Thanks,

Mark

Hi @markjohndeluca

I am sorry to hear you're still having some issues. I've ran some further checks and all your power levels are within the specifications we would expect.

I do note there is an uptime of 38 days so would you mind rebooting your hub to see if this improves your connection at all?

Let us know.
