I phoned virgin up yesterday trying to activate a SH2ac I got off ebay - and they would not do it but the guy told me that Virgin media are awaiting the outcome of a court case. he also said that virgin media has no more stock of the older Super hubs - so basically suck it up until after the court case.

The speed test results bother me however. Only getting just over 100 down and 10 up...

Like somebody else said, I'll give it a few weeks before making final judgement but so far so good. Gonna give VM a call to get my package upgraded back to the the Vivid 300 one since I'll be keeping the SH3. For now.

Looks like both me and you have good experiences with the SH3, much to both of our surprises, for the time being. Is it a case of the amount of devices utilising the modem at a time? I personally only have my desktop and my phone connecting to it, nothing else.

Interesting point. Maybe. My only connections are my PlayStation 4 and phone. One wired one wireless. I did notice a massive packet loss and ping of 300 but that was during a speed test... other than that not a single blip. Everything SO FAR has been great.

Mmmm, that's all very upbeat.Smiley Wink

Anyway I've been able to determine that the patch is causing (my) Broadband widget to lose it's yellow latency spikes very very slowly. Down to half of previous before update.

What is happening is every 24 hours a low latency patch appears in the graph. This patch of low latency is increasing. Eventually if it continues the whole graph will show about half the latency that it was before the update.

I'm trying to work out how long it will take to do this at present....possibly another week.

I've posted several of these graphs already but here's the next in sequence. Note how the low latency patch is increasing. Here on my clansite are all the graphs I've screenshot so far..

In the areas of low latency I find my gaming experience improves. Yes, I know the patch is not supposed to have dealt with the UDP/TCP/USSR/USA/whatever problems but nonetheless think it's working from a subjective personal view.

I wouldn't say TOTALLY upbeat. I'm feeling kind of gypped over the speeds I'm getting. Only getting half of what I'll be paying for give or take.

I had a HUB 2 with 200mb but NOT the 200 Gamer which comes with no throttling. That was a bad experience mainly because my connect would sometimes drop to 50mb in the evening. That's when I stopped playing COD.

When I changed to the 200 Gamer I got the HUB 3 with it. Obviously straight away felt the latency thing that led me to DSL and XYMOX1 then onto this forum.

I then changed upto the 300 Gamer to see if that would improve things and it did slightly.

Now things have I feel improved again with this patch. Whether I continue with Virgin after Feb 2017(when my contract runs out) depends on what happens next.

Virgin have done something at last so I feel ever so slightly happy.

Yes, they ***** totally up. 

Yes, we all waited an eternity for the update.

Yes, they haven't communicated very well along the way.

Yes, they have infested the forum with spies to mind meld us to their will.

But, hay, forgive an forget.Smiley Happy Christmas is near.

no idea how my sh2 works on my line which got fitted earlier in the week with a sh3 ?

I heard u literally just say u will leave virgin media if they do not activate a device owned by them on their own line ? if not....just leave

the SH3 sucked so bad for me

it was fine for about 6 months mind...then it all went down hill

so maybe its a time issue ?

well that was short lived...guess they figured the router i was using was not a hub 3 and deactivated my hub 2 Smiley Sad

plus when u ring up they have no clue what ur on about in india....so its like talking to a brick wall...
