High Ping Spikes

Aaron20059
On our wavelength

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could help me find the issue with my connection, my ping/ms keeps spiking up from 25 to the hundreds while gaming online.

I'm on a wired connection, Ethernet straight from the PC to the router.

I've been reading through other forum posts and so far I've tried pinhole resetting the router, port forwarding, swapping out the Ethernet cable and even running the router in Modem Mode, so far nothing has worked, maybe it's just the game servers or something?

I've setup a BQM monitor and you can find the link below.

There's some intermittent packet loss showing as well as the spikes.  Possibly a noise ingress problem.  When the hub's had some reasonable run time - say 12-72 hours since last restart - pull up the log in page for the hub.  But don't log in, just click on the link "Check router status"  That'll bring up a window with five tabs.  Open the Downstream tab.  Select all the text (Ctrl-A if using a keyboard), copy it (Ctrl-C), then paste it (Ctrl-V) into a reply here as TEXT not screenshots.  Post that, do the same for the Upstream and Network log.  You'll get an error message when you post the Network log, just click on "post" a second time.

Then we can check for any obvious problems with power, noise or error counts.

Just updating the Router status, also forgot to mention that the router was pin hole reset just before the BQM was setup, so it's been going since about 10am on the 15th, I also logged into the router to change the UPnP settings at one point to try and solve the high ping spikes.

I've flagged for staff to advise - looks like an upstream noise issue.

Hi @Aaron20059,

Welcome back to our Community Forums! Thank you for your post and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing ongoing connection issues! I can understand how frustrating this can be.

I was able to locate your account and run through some further checks. At this moment, I cannot see any area issues impacting your services. Your power levels are within spec and there are no issues with your current WiFi settings that could be impacting your connection.

Can you tell us if this issue is still impacting your wired connection? Your BQM chart is not showing repeated issues at the moment. Please let us know how you're getting on and if this issue is still persistent.

Thank you.
