We just got a new router from Virgin Media which we're paying 20 GBP a month for, both of us play games and were hoping for a stable connection to game servers.
The ping is stable at 25ms but every 10 seconds it spikes to 5000 ms. Even if there's only one device connected, this happens always 24/7 without fail, it's been 2 weeks now. Virgin Media just says there are no issues with the router when we troubleshoot it. Not sure what could be the issue, download and upload speed are perfect but ping is really important to us.
Anyone know what could be going on, any advice would be appreciated.

Hi ja6j22j
Sorry to hear of the issues experience with your broadband connection, we appreciate you taking the time to raise this via the forums and for posting the additional details. Welcome to the community.
We're eager to look into this further for you but haven't been able to locate an account based off of the details available. Were you able to set up the BQM for 24 hours and post the results?

Proof?
How can you tell incoming traffic to the hub is real you can't so there is no proof.
I'm asking you to prove it isn't real.

Some people just can't handle the truth
Real speed can just go by the what the hub lists then you random the numbers a little so its not the same and you get good speed to the hub and not to device.

You could say that about any speed test site.
Unless you can prove it I suggest you stop commenting on the subject.

No because you can see it in task manager and Wireshark you can't see download speed to hub like that its a black box in router mode!
but if you want more prove lets take the latency shows 15ms to hub and 30ms to device why the difference? and packet loss test why is there no packet loss test to device but is for hub? should it not be possible to do that on browser like other test sites can? or is it because if you was have packet loss it would show on device and not to hub?

I'm not wasting any more time with this.
VM would not create a 'fake' speed test with a third party, nothing more to say.

Took you long enough😁
I have seen so many speed tests of this real speed that I'm not convinced how speed can be so low to device and fast to hub that we just believe its the end user device thats the problem.
