Disconnecting from XBL every 20 mins

Hi there,

recently my Xbox live has been cutting out every 20 minutes then reconnecting almost instantly. No other devices disconnect!

Wondering if anyone has a fix for this or can look into it for me?

many thanks!

Re: Disconnecting from XBL every 20 mins

I had the same problem as this. In my case it turned out I was using an old inferior cat5 ethernet cable, upgrading to a cat6 ethernet cable did the trick.

Not sure if that's relevant to your case, but sorted that particular issue for me.

Hi,

i have the super hub, I’m assuming it’s quite a recent variant as I’ve only had it installed since December.

Re: Disconnecting from XBL every 20 mins

Are you getting disconnected from Live itself, or just getting kicked from games?

There's currently a routing issue that started happening last night. Every few minutes, certain servers/sites become unreachable for a short period of time, then it'll start working again, but obviously if you're in an online game when that happens, you'll get disconnected from it.

I know Overwatch is affected as I was kicked from it multiple times last night and I've been kicked 4 times so far in the last 90 minutes tonight. When I get kicked, I'm still connected to Live though as I can still chat to friends in a party.

There's a thread about it here: -

Re: Disconnecting from XBL every 20 mins

It sounds like a similar problem and there may be related to the same issue but it completely disconnects me. Takes me off for around 3-5 minutes then allows me to connect again.

Re: Disconnecting from XBL every 20 mins

Please login to the Modem with a browser - 192.168.0.1

1: Change the Wifi Name's for 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz (You can use the same passwords)
Advanced Settings -> Wireless -> Security

2. Tick Disable Channel Optimization -> Photo of router Wifi setup can be seen on the first post on this thread:
Advanced Settings -> Wireless -> Wireless Signal

3: Make sure the Devices are connecting to 2.4ghz if they are the other side of the house or upstairs. 5ghz if in the same room as modem.

Re: Disconnecting from XBL every 20 mins

Hi SonarUK,

Thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry to see you have had trouble with your connection.

I have taken a look and things seem to be ok from this side. It may help to try the following so we can rule some things out:

Pop the hub into Modem Mode with the computer in Safe Mode with Networking at different times of the day.

Try on separate devices.

Check Ethernet cable. Make sure it is new / up to date. (Cat 5e or above).

Make sure device is capable of agreed speed.

Check wireless card slide.

Take care.

 Emma
