Area 22 FAULT 005735480 - Completion date FEB 2019??? (IG1 3TQ, Ilford)

I've had ongoing issues with gaming performance (constant lag spikes and ~30ms jitter) since switching to Virgin "Gamer" package a few years ago.

Here is a previous thread I posted without resolution: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Forum-Archive/Poor-performance-in-CSGO/m-p/3267144#M1556822

Same issues continue to this day and I've recently had an engineer around who checked our line and was told that there is an area fault with ref 005735480 with an expected completion date of FEB 2019 (yes 11 MONTHS from now!!) but didn't give any detail.

Can anyone shed any light on exactly what exactly this area fault is and why such a ridiculous resolution date?

Also where do I stand with regards to compensation considering it has been an issue for 2-3 years and looking like it will continue to be so for the remainder of my recently renewed contract?? I would expect back at least half the money I've paid over these years! PATHETIC!!

Hello gee3000,

Thanks for posting Smiley Happy

Really sorry for the problems in your area, I appreciate it's frustrating. I've tested your network and I can see that we're working on fault: F005735480 which is being reviewed on the 27th Feb 19. This fault is responsible for causing peak time speed reductions due to a high level of usage in your area. I'll drop you a PM (purple envelope, top right) with more info.

Speak soon,

Take care.

I am also in Area 22. Don't seem to have any issues. But would like a bit more details on what is happening.

Is this all of Area 22, or just parts, I am in RM11.

Running on 350Mb VM service with SH3 in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-AC5300 router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk.

And the really pathetic thing is that VM will still sell their broadband services to people in that affected area.

No, the real pathetic thing is, that date is just a REVIEW...NO WORK WILL BE DONE!!!

All they will do, is look at the figures, decide whether to do anything (100% NO there then!!) and issue a 'new review' date even further into 2019 (probably 5-9 months going by the recent 'review' dates...

So, basically, 18 months from now, there will probably be yet another 'review' but again, NO ACTION......

Had 3 years of repeated 'reviews' being moved 6-9 months down the line, only to be pushed back again and again.

Get out now, because it will not get better, only WORSE!!!

For anyone still following this issue:

I was given credit on my account last year to compensate for the service issues.

I then recently got an update last month on 17th December 2018 stating a new review date of 19th June 2019 and a further credit applied to my account.

Again this is only a review date and not a fix date. Not holding my breath for a fix to be honest just have to put up with it. Shame.
