Full details are in the announcement post that Mark made here http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Announcements/We-re-doubling-our-customers-broadband-speeds/m-p/... (that's also linked to in the first post of this thread)

1.5 years from now BT will have even faster speeds making VM's 120Mb top speed look slow... pointless advertising it now if the site is to be believed and it really is up to June 2013.

Ridiculous in fact.

That's exactly how I feel about this!

Thoughts please mods and VM employees?

Part of the reason it's been announced now is that at somepoint Virgin will start selling the increased speeds to new customers. Would you really want them to do that without telling existing customers that they will also get an increase

Also the upgrades start in the next few months. The reason it's taking a while to do is to make sure the capacity is in place to support the new speeds. Would you want Virgin to increase the speeds without making sure the network could handle it?

so what would be the point in shouting about 120Mbps in 1.5 years' time, when it won't impress people? May as well shout about it now, whilst it still does impress people and gets good press, no? They're not so daft, VM!

And BenMcr's point above also could make sense Smiley Wink
