Email I sent to Virgin CEO

I thought you guys may like to read this email I sent.

Also this support forum is becoming less about technical help but more about fixing and moaning about the problems Virgin create for themselves.

Re: Email I sent to Virgin CEO

It's not just traffic management and traffic shaping which will impede your connection during peak hours, it's a domestic connection and as such is subject to contention.

apcyberax

if you are ok with a company that will make moves to change the T&Cs as and when they like and not take into account what the consume really needs then fine by me.

some of us on the other hand want what was advertised to us and want the best and are not happy with just reading things and accepting things.

Re: Email I sent to Virgin CEO

but you did sign a agreement allowing them to change policys. I agree its wrong that they should and they need to tweak the new shaping as its not working 100% but my point is vm have does just what they are allowed and you signed a agreement saying it was ok for them to do so.

If you didn't agree you shouldn;t of signed it

Re: Email I sent to Virgin CEO

Extract from your site:

“We think you deserve more. So no matter which of our fibre optic broadband packages you chose, you get unlimited1 downloads. That means you can download as much music, as many films and as many photos as you want without having to worry about going over any kind of limit.”

Just goes to show there ARE hidden limits in place / triiger points when some download a certain amount of data or none of these letters would be comming out to customers on the 50Mb/s service.

No one is downloading beyond the speed limits of what the modem is set too or really breaking any rules as they have paid to download at upto 50Mb/s speeds and that is what they are doing, no file sizes or time limits were ever set. It is supposed to be Unlimited. no matter how some people try and twist it, that is what VM were selling to the public.

Strange how 50Mb/s customers who came onto this level of service because they are big users and were all told its unlimited now start to get warnings just as they want to roll out the 100Mb/s service.

Exactly the same happend when I was on the 20Mb/s service and they were about to roll out the 50Mb/s (which was advertised as having its own dedicated servers to cope with high demand users).

They slap the customer with one hand and offer with the other hand the promise of unlimited use as much as you want as long as you want on our new faster more expensive service.

As for T&S when i signed mine (yes I read through it) over 12 months ago, I added to it that if my services ot the T&S were changed by Virgim media then I would reserve the right to cancel the contract even if the 12 month period had not been reached.

They probably didnt even read it when they recieved my copy back, but they also never disputed it.

Re: Email I sent to Virgin CEO

agree that its misleading if you only read the ad. Point i was making is they have done just what they said they would do. If you read everything.

The shaping is messed up right now but if they use it right it will be perfect. its catching stuff it shouldn't the argument shouldn't be that they change it it should be that that are using something thats not working right.

Re: Email I sent to Virgin CEO

ok guys here it is.....

Had a nice long chat on the phone with a guy from their CEO office.

Also I requested in writing the reason for the changes made to the throttling on the 50meg package.

On the phone I was categorically told that the changes were not made due to their network being oversubscribed.

This does of course beg the question why did they introduce it if we were not oversubscribed at all?

Their 3rd quarter results are also very strong:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/oct/27/virgin-media-superfast-100mb-broadband

So why is it we are getting a lesser service?

They have plenty of cash flowing in and lots of new customers.

They have written to the customers telling us of no issues relating to over subscription on their network.

Yet we are suddenly not allowed to use the full service during peak hours…i.e. when everyone gets home from work and wants to use them!

Stop defending VM saying its in their T&Cs.

They are doing very well so do not feel sorry for them when customers like my self kick up a fuss with the quality of service received. – which is poor to say the least.

Re: Email I sent to Virgin CEO

I have been reading with interest some members anger, especially when they receive a letter because they download up to 1TB per month.

What are they going to do when the new 100MB Tier kicks in a couple of years, I can see it being every man for himself when it comes to downloading.

Downloading 1TB a month will be for wimps only, is there that much stuff available to max out the new 100MB Tier, I can see it catching on fire when it is up and running.Smiley Very Happy

I remember when Rapidshare limited their Premium users to only 150GB's per month, I got upset until I realised I have never download that limit anyway.

When the 100MB tier is availble I can see some board members attemping to download the Internet, but I could be wrongSmiley Surprised
