unable to access email

Accessing email yesterday no problem. Today, get sign in window with my name and password, but after clicking sign in I get message "This page cannot be displayed with advice about turning on TLS1.0, TLS1,1. and TLS 1.2in advanced settings. These are ticked on. also a reference to RC4 or an unsupported protocol; or cipher suite. RC4 link to Microsoft suggests it unsafe. Now way beyond me . Help please  ericg.

Further to my email from yesterday my email system returned to normal yesterday evening. Can anyone explain what went on. Is it Virgin media or Microsoft causing the difficulty. Why the references to RC4 and unsupported protocol; and cipher suite not being secure and why did it all come right on its own. Virgin helpline not much help, obviously beyond their understanding, suggesting I could use Firefox instead of IE 11 or Chrome both of which were affected.  Glad to be back to normal but it would be nice to know how and why
