Similar issue was raised on the forum here Bcc-only mails being stopped and cause was combination of Thunderbird, blank To and Cc fields but populated Bcc; temporary workaround is to populating the To field with own address.

Hi @mcadman,
Thank you for making this post regarding sending emails from your ntlworld address, I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with this.
Firstly, can I confirm if you hold an active broadband account with us?
Secondly, how are you accessing your ntlworld emails? Can you access your email account from the VM website using this link https://mail2.virginmedia.com/ and see if you can successfully send an email from there?
Kind regards,
Serena

Thank you for confirming the first part of your reply, if you could answer the following, how are you accessing your ntlworld emails? Can you access your email account from the VM website using this link https://mail2.virginmedia.com/ and see if you can successfully send an email from there?
