Been sending and receiving mail ok for a number of months
Nothing has changed but now cannot send emails as the server (smtp.virginmedia.com) is not recognising my email name and password.
Tried re-entering the account settings but still not working. My email and password must be correct as I have logged in to the online email.

We're currently aware of an on going issue with online services like your online account or email account.
The team is working as hard as they can to get this sorted so hopefully you'll be able to use the email service very soon.

@ntlworld.com also does not worklog (thunderbird) says "login failed", but same password works in web mail
tried using virginmedia smtp server but same result, c'mon VM pull your finger out pls
Hi skattie, I am sorry to hear about this. Are you still also able to send emails via webmail?
You've advised you're sending emails via Thunderbird, have you tried any other email clients to see if you encounter the same issue?
aha, ok I just tried Outlook and it works... so something wrong at my end, wonder what...??
Outlook uses port 25, Thunderbird was 465, changed to 25, still no joy 😞
I can send from my virginmedia email address using both smtp.virginmedia.com and smtp.ntlworld.com, but cannot send from my ntlworld email address using either!
I am recieving ntlworld emails just fine
