blueyonder server asking for password

Hi All

My Blueyonder email account will no longer send emails. The last successful send was on 31/5/19 @12.09pm (I don't send many emails).

This is not device specific. It happens on my Samsung Tablet and home PC (in T-Bird)

I can receive mails but can no longer send them.

I get a pop up asking for a/the new password. I have not change my password.

I have followed much of the advice on here and still can not send emails. I checked that the setting match the bellow link in T-Bird (I am concentrating on getting the PC working first).

Blueyonder email server settings

All match.

Still no joy. Receive but no send.

Help please

Regards

RichT

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

VM staff have posted in a couple of threads recently to acknowledge that there are some backend issues currently with VM mail.

I suggest you sit tight for now until it clears.  In the mean time use VM webmail to access your emails and send as that seems to be working ok.

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

Hi Graham

Thanks for the reply.

There in lies the problem. I can't get the webmail to work for my account. I hardly ever use webmail so when I went to check the mails there it would not log on.

I got this as a warning in the account settings

The entered credential or authentication information does not work or are no longer accepted by provider. Please change them.

I set the details to exactly the same as the T-Bird (from the previous link) and now get

Could not connect to transport server "smtp.virginmedia.com" for login *********@blueyonder.co.uk. Please review your settings.

This comes up on both the main account address and the alias address.

This has now become a major issue as I have 2 warranty emails I need to reply to and can't to either.

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

Ok, that may indicate a different issue, although solving it may be held up until the current system faults are cleared.

Do you still have a paid for Virgin Media broadband account and is your blueyonder email address linked to it?

If you enter your email address into the checker at mailtetster.com what result comes up?

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

I've been having the same smtp send fails since the weekend, regardless of wether I send from my main PC, or android email client, all of which have worked fine until a couple of days ago , no changes at my end.

As above, can pickup emails no problem, but cannot send.  I've got 3 different email addresses with Virgin and I'm 'old school' IT and prefer a real email client rather than webmail (the interface to which on VM is dire for anything other than reading current emails).

Are there any updates/timelines on what these email backend issues are, and when they should be fixed?  I've managed several smtp and pop3 servers over the years and it's really not that difficult !

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

Hi Graham

It says it is a valid mail address.

Mail servers found for domain:
- mx.tb.ukmail.iss.as****.net (priority 1, ip address: ***.**.**.**)
- mx.mnd.ukmail.iss.as****.net (priority 1, ip address: ***.**.**.**)
Using mail server with lowest priority number:
- mx.tb.ukmail.iss.as****.net (priority 1, ip address: ***.**.**.**)
Mailserver identification:
mx1.tb.ukmail.iss.as****.net mx1.tb.ukmail.iss.as****.net ESMTP server ready
E-mail address is valid

Edit to add

I am getting notifications via email of this conversation Smiley Very Happy

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

RichT, what is the answer to my first question, do you have a VM cable broadband account and is your blueyonder address properly linked to it?

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

Apologies Graham

I am so intent on solving one issue I forgot to supply the info requested.

Yes I am a current VM customer and the Blueyonder account is linked to it. It has been since Blueyonder was launched, in the 90's iirc.

Thanks @Urgentemente for confirming I'm not going mad Smiley Very Happy

Thanks, VM have confirmed to me that this issue has been escalated. @ModTeam any chance of a status post before your shift ends?

Re: blueyonder server asking for password

Thanks Graham

I've tried using this page

Important information about My Virgin Media

to get to the blueyonder website/page. Only the @Virginmedia.com email link works.

But I get an "unable to connect" page in firefox.

Not having much luck today Smiley Sad But it is only the second time in nearly 30 years I've had issues with my email account.
