Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

Hello,

Recently emails our staff have been sending have bounced back from various virgin media domain email addresses with a message contains virus content. When checking as many black lists as possible and also virus total there is nothing that would indicate an issue. When trying to contact the virgin media postmaster it also bounces back so I feel resigned to reach out here. The website link that gets flagged it seems is yctsupport.com. Way back in january we had some issues, but resolved them over the course of a week, and have been fine since. I am unsure why virgin media emails only recently started flagging our emails and any help would be appreciated to resolve this!

Re: Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

Virgin Media's staff will respond on here but normally it can take a few hours to a few days.

@ModTeam - Can you see if you can help expedite matters here?

Re: Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

Hey @JoshuaBradbury,

Welcome to the community and thanks for getting in touch with us here.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues that you're having with your staff sending emails out, do you have a business or residential account with us at the moment?

If you have a residential account with us, we can get this looked into further for you but if you're on a business account this would need to be investigated by business faults team.

If you're on a residential account, please could you send over the headers and a sample of the content  from the mails that have been rejected to me in a private message, I can then pass this onto our specialist email team to look into this further.

Regards,

Steven_L

Re: Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

@Steven_L

They don't have a Virgin Media account.  They're trying to send mails TO Virgin Media addresses, but the link in their mail is being blocked erroneously.

While you're at it, can you point out to the powers that be that mails to the postmaster address SHOULD NOT be rejected out of hand as this is the established route for people like @JoshuaBradbury to use.  It's about time they did something about this.

As ravenstar68 said I am not a virgin customer, how would you like me to proceed?

Hey @JoshuaBradbury,

Apologies once again that you are having this issue when emailing out to Virgin Media addresses.

I have raised this with our Internet Security team to look into right away. I'll be in touch once I have any updates.

Kind regards,

Re: Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

Hey @JoshuaBradbury,

Are you able to provide an example of an email being bounced back, including:

  • Subject line
  • Headers
  • Content

Please do omit any personal details too.

Many thanks,

Re: Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

I can do but I tried even just a blank email with a generic subject and the URL provided above and it bounced, and the exact same email without the link didn't bounce, so not sure all the headers and extra content will make a difference but I'll get it asap.

Hey @JoshuaBradbury,

Thanks for that - I've passed it on but it's what IT have requested in addition.

Any further info would be great, thanks so much.

Re: Virgin media is blocking our website link in emails

@Molly_G

I think the full bounce message would help here.  I've sent a mail from my own server carrying just the suspect link.

I've even sent the mail as a plain text mail so the offending content was not converted to a link.

Here's the error reported by my server (Note: you can leave the IP address as it is).

554 5.2.0 MXIN601 Message contains Virus Content
    ;id=8j8mmCguD93FY8j8mmPeNN;sid=8j8mmCguD93FY;mta=mx7.tb;dt=2021-07-28T14:58:29+02:00;ipsrc=51.195.149.130

If you want I can send you a copy of the email source via PM
