I had the same issue with my virgin.net email for nearly 24 hours.

I phoned 150 yesterday afternoon and was told they were doing some work which should have completed at 8am but is running on.

He also told me that old addresses like ours, are to be discontinued but couldn't give me a timescale.

Perhaps one of the VM on here could tell us when this will happen.

The only virgin.net email addresses that are being closed down are those not correctly linked to a current VM broadband account.

I rarely ring 150 but this is not the first time they've given me incorrect information.

that is appalling if it is true. They have not wanted our email addresses since we joined them. Oh for the days of ntlworld!

I wasn't making it up, that's what I was advised. 

He was suggesting I create a new e-mail address instead but couldn't do it as he couldn't access MyVirginMedia either.

Last time I had been told the servers for our e-mails were now owned by TalkTalk but since learnt that's not true either!
