Transfer emails to new computer

I have a new computer, and have set up Outlook as my email account, and it seems to be set ip correctly, but emails are still coming to my old computer.  What else do I need to do?

I will then want to transfer all old emails from my current computer, which uses, I believe, Windows Live Mail.  How do I do this?

Are you using IMAP or POP3 protocol to receive emails on old and new computer; if the latter then only the first one to check for new messages will receive a copy, the other will not?
